Dr Charles Murray

Dr Charles Murray is a Gastroenterologist and Consultant Physician at the Royal Free Hospital where he is Clincial Lead for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. Dr Murray sees patients with a variety of problems, across all aspects of his speciality, however, his main interests are endoscopy, IBS, IBD, and functional gut disorders.

In his earlier career, Dr Murray was a researcher at St Mark's Hospital which led to a PhD from Imperial College London. He gained his medical qualifications after studying at Cambridge and the University of London. He became a consultant in 2007.

Dr Charles Murray was Senior secretary of the British Society of Gastroenterology from 2009 to 2013 and is the current Chair of the Education Committe for United European Gastroenterology. He is the past President of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.

He maintains an academic practice and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University, and an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. The American Association of Gastroenterologists awarded him with the Moti L. and Kamla Rustgi International Fellowship in 2005. Two years later, he received the award of the Young Investigator of the Year in the Functional Brain-Gut Research Group.
