About Dr Alexander Lyon
Dr Alexander Lyon is a senior lecturer and consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital, where he is also the clinical lead for the cardio-oncology service. He sees patients with symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, and dizziness.

He then joined the cardiac medicine research group of Professor Sian Harding and Professor Philip Poole-Wilson, where he examined the effect of cardiac gene therapy on ventricular arrhythmia generation. He was awarded an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship in 2005 and later undertook a PhD at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, where he studied the spatiotemporal patterns of mitochondrial function.
He is currently chair of the UK Cardio-Oncology Consortium and a member of the Heart Failure Association Translational Research Committee.

Dr Lyon has been very thorough in investigating the reason behind my recent symptoms which resulted in an MRI showing that I had had a small heart attack. He provided very clear explanations regarding my condition. He was also very fast to react when I had a problem with a reaction to the medication prescribed and has communicated quickly a plan for further investigations. This altogether has given me reassurance that my problem is being dealt with efficiently and professionally.

Dr Lyon gave Philip great encouragement that he could make him feel better. He listened to the symptoms and quickly got further tests and scans sorted which were all done the same day. He kindly telephoned that same evening with the results and a further plan of treatment.
This was a 6 monthly follow-up with Dr Lyon. He talked me through the results of tests I had had a few days before. As a result he altered the drugs I take and asked me to have blood tests in 2 weeks time. Dr Lyon is a superb professional and I have every faith in him.

This was my second visit to see Dr Lyon. The first visit was a special consultation because he at once put me at ease.. He was so clear about what he wanted to achieve in the investigations. The follow-up was just as good when explained the results and what if anything needed to be done. I was so impressed. Perhaps one of the best medical consultations I have ever had. Such an expert in his field!
