About Dr Dexter Wiseman

Dr Dexter Wiseman is a Consultant in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, with a specialist interest in sleep medicine and advanced respiratory diagnostics. He works closely with the lung cancer team and has particular expertise in bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) for the diagnosis and staging of lung disease.

Dr Wiseman graduated from medical school in 2010 and commenced respiratory specialist training in North West London in 2015. During his training, he worked across several leading centres including Hammersmith Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, The Royal Brompton Hospital, and Northwick Park Hospital, gaining broad experience in complex respiratory medicine.

He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, having completed a PhD in respiratory medicine. His academic work has included helping to run the London COPD Exacerbation Cohort, and his research interests span sleep medicine, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

In his current consultant role, Dr Wiseman is the Trust Lead for Non-Invasive Ventilation and runs weekly EBUS lists as well as dedicated sleep clinics, with a focus on obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). He has also led a major review of local sleep diagnostics pathways and was jointly awarded an HSJ Award for Modernising Medical Diagnostics.

Extremely punctual- no wait at all. Welcoming, personable, thorough in line of enquiry and clear in providing explanation and plotting the way forward and clarifying expectations for me, the patient. In short, a faultless professional. As someone who has consistently enjoyed high quality service from NHS professionals in a wide variety of medical premises over many years, this experience still stood out as exceptional. (Also, excellent coffee and ham and cheese toasty in hospital canteen served by cheerful and welcoming catering staff.)
