Dr Declan Chard

Dr Declan Chard is an experienced Consultant Neurologist who provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and management for patients experiencing conditions of the central nervous system. Known for his thorough and reassuring clinical approach, Dr Chard works closely with patients to deliver tailored care pathways that address complex neurological symptoms. His clinical practice focuses on diagnosing and managing neuroinflammatory conditions, helping individuals navigate challenging diagnoses with clarity and compassionate support.

Dr Chard has extensive expertise in the field of Multiple Sclerosis and other inflammatory diseases of the brain and spinal cord. He specialises in using advanced magnetic resonance imaging techniques to evaluate disease activity, monitor progression, and inform individualised treatment plans. His work encompasses evaluating initial neurological presentations, managing disease flare-ups, predicting clinical outcomes, and optimising disease-modifying therapies to maintain long-term quality of life.

Dr Chard completed his undergraduate medical studies at the United Medical and Dental Schools in London, qualifying with his medical degree in 1994. He subsequently completed specialist postgraduate training in Neurology across London, earning his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1998. He went on to undertake higher research at the UCL Institute of Neurology, obtaining his Doctorate of Philosophy in 2008. In addition, Dr Chard was elected as a Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology in 2018.
