Dr Gurjit Chohan

Dr Gurjit Chohan is a dedicated Consultant Neurologist who provides expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management for individuals experiencing a broad range of neurological conditions. Taking a patient-centred approach, Dr Chohan ensures that each individual receives clear explanations, compassionate support, and a treatment plan tailored to their specific healthcare needs. Her clinical practice at the Royal United Hospital Bath and The Bath Clinic focuses on reassuring patients while managing conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles.

Dr Chohan qualified in Medicine in 2001 before undertaking postgraduate training in Neurology in Oxford. She subsequently completed a research degree awarded as a Doctor of Medicine focusing on Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease in Edinburgh. Following specialist higher training in Peninsula, she further refined her expertise through an advanced international Neuroinflammatory Fellowship in Sydney, Australia. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented work internationally. Dr Chohan holds professional memberships with the Royal College of Physicians London, the General Medical Council, the British Medical Association, the Medical Protection Society, the Association of British Neurologists, and the SouthWest of England Neurology Association.

In her day-to-day practice, Dr Chohan manages all aspects of general neurology while maintaining focused clinical interests in Motor Neurone Disease and therapeutic Botulinum toxin treatments for neurological conditions. Dr Chohan regularly attends meetings to keep up-to-date with clinical and scientific developments in her field and to foster collaborative working.

Alongside her clinical duties, she plays an active role in medical education as a College Tutor, Speciality Tutor, Lead for Supportive Return to Training (RTTSupport) and Council Member for educational bodies mentoring/supervising medical trainees and supporting clinical governance. Her ongoing dedication to quality improvement ensures that her patients receive high standards of evidence-based care. She is also an active member of the Ethics Committee at the Royal United Hospital Bath.
