Dr Gurjit Chohan

Dr Gurjit Chohan is a highly experienced Consultant Neurologist with over two decades of clinical expertise. She earned her medical degree from the University of Leicester in 2001 and completed her specialist neurology training in Oxford. She subsequently undertook an MD in Edinburgh, where her research focused on Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), contributing to her specialist knowledge of complex and rapidly progressive neurological disorders.

Following her training in the UK, Dr Chohan further refined her expertise through a Neuroinflammatory Fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Brain and Mind Research Institute in Sydney, Australia. This international experience provided exposure to specialist approaches to neuroinflammatory conditions and research, complementing her UK training and informing her approach to the assessment and management of patients with complex neurological disorders. Since becoming a Consultant Neurologist in 2013, she has developed extensive experience in managing a broad range of neurological conditions with a patient-centred focus.

Dr Chohan is also committed to medical education, clinical governance and quality improvement. She holds regional and national roles, including Council Member of the Association of British Neurologists (ABN) Educational Committee, supporting the development of neurology education and training. Within the hospital setting, she has played an active role in Ethics Committee and Neurogovernance activities and has served as the departmental lead for neurology, contributing to clinical standards, governance processes and ongoing service improvement.
