Dr David Duffy

Dr David Duffy is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in knee surgery, joint replacement, and sports-related injuries. He provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients presenting with complex knee conditions, knee arthritis, ligament injuries, and joint degeneration. Taking a holistic and patient-centred approach, Dr Duffy focuses on identifying the root causes of joint pain and dysfunction to create individualised treatment plans aimed at restoring mobility and improving long-term quality of life.

Dr Duffy earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Newcastle University. Following graduation, he gained extensive international clinical experience in Australia, working in emergency medicine and intensive care. He then returned to the United Kingdom to complete specialist higher training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery across Yorkshire. To refine his clinical focus, he undertook specialist knee fellowships in Leeds, Harrogate, and Brisbane, focusing on reconstructive procedures and sports medicine. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons and a member of the British Orthopaedic Association.

In his clinical practice, Dr Duffy offers expertise across a wide range of advanced orthopaedic treatments. He specialises in joint replacement surgery, including total knee replacement and partial knee replacement, as well as keyhole arthroscopic procedures. He also has significant expertise in managing sports injuries, performing complex anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions, cartilage repair, and meniscal procedures for both elite athletes and active individuals. Dr Duffy prioritises clear communication, taking time to explain diagnoses and treatment options so patients feel reassuringly informed and confident throughout their care.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Duffy is deeply committed to medical education, clinical research, and professional training. He serves as a Clinical Supervisor for junior doctors and is a regular faculty member teaching on regional, national, and international orthopaedic training courses. By staying closely involved in surgical training and evidence-based practice, Dr Duffy ensures his patients receive up-to-date, high-quality care delivered with reassuring professionalism.
