About Mr Amr Abouelela
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. I care for patients with a wide range of foot and ankle problems, including injuries, arthritis, deformities, tendon conditions and diabetic-related issues.
I regularly perform procedures such as ankle arthroscopy, forefoot reconstruction, deformity correction and treatment for Achilles tendon problems. I also run both trauma and elective clinics to support patients from their first assessment through to treatment and recovery.
Before becoming a consultant, I completed advanced specialist training in foot and ankle surgery at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, a centre known for managing complex cases. I have worked in several NHS hospitals across the UK, treating trauma and elective orthopaedic conditions, and I have always taken an active role in teaching and supporting junior doctors.
I completed my medical and specialist orthopaedic training at Alexandria University and hold further qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. I also have a strong interest in research related to foot and ankle surgery.
My goal is to provide clear, compassionate care and to help patients return to their normal activities as safely and comfortably as possible.

This was my 6 week appointment to check the surgery was healing and the next steps in my recovery.
Mr Abouelela was very clear and helpful. However it was 11 weeks after surgery after being told she should be seen at 6 weeks, we were cancelled 3 times. Not the doctors fault but doesn’t help a young person with learning disabilities
I had a bunion operation. From start to finish it has been smooth and no complications. All out patient appointments, see timely. Day case for surgery went very well. All staff have been lovely, from nurses. Drs , theatre staff and students. Carbon my foot is beautiful. Foot healing well. I’m very pleased. Lovely surgeon.
