Dr Clare Pain

Dr Clare Pain is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician and Specialist in Paediatric Rheumatology who provides expert, compassionate medical care for children and young people. With a patient-centred approach, Dr Pain focuses on delivering evidence-based diagnostic evaluations and individualised treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of infants, children, and adolescents. She works collaboratively within multi-disciplinary medical teams to guide patients and their families through complex conditions, ensuring reassuring and clear care at every stage of management.

In her clinical practice, Dr Pain possesses extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing a broad spectrum of paediatric inflammatory, autoinflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders. Her areas of clinical focus include juvenile idiopathic arthritis, connective tissue diseases, juvenile localised scleroderma, Behçet's disease, and paediatric vasculitis. She also provides care for young patients experiencing Raynaud's phenomenon, hypermobility disorders, and chronic musculoskeletal pain. Committed to advancing standard practices, Dr Pain actively engages in clinical research, clinical trials, and transition care programmes that assist young people in moving seamlessly into adult healthcare services.

Dr Pain completed her primary medical degree before undertaking higher specialist training in Paediatrics, incorporating specialist grid training in Paediatric Rheumatology. She earned membership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). Alongside her clinical practice, she holds academic research positions and actively contributes to international professional medical bodies, including serving as Chair of the Juvenile Scleroderma Working Party for the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society.
