Dr Christopher Calvert

Dr Christopher Calvert is a highly dedicated Consultant Gastroenterologist who specialises in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. With a patient-centred approach, he is committed to delivering high-quality, reassuring care to individuals experiencing digestive health issues. As the Lead Clinician for Endoscopy, Dr Calvert plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of clinical safety and quality in endoscopic procedures.

Throughout his career, Dr Calvert has developed significant expertise in luminal gastroenterology, with particular clinical interests in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and clinical nutrition. He is also an Accredited Bowel Cancer Screener, actively participating in national screening programmes to detect bowel cancer and precancerous polyps at an early, highly treatable stage. His clinical practice encompasses a broad spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy, aimed at providing patients with accurate diagnoses and effective management plans.

Dr Calvert completed his comprehensive higher specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine, subsequently gaining entry onto the General Medical Council Specialist Register. Following the completion of his specialist training, he was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist. He has consistently contributed to the advancement of his field through clinical research and service improvement. He has been actively involved in multi-centre clinical studies focusing on Crohn's disease, enteral nutrition, and the quality of life of patients requiring home parenteral support, ensuring his clinical practice remains aligned with the latest medical advancements.
