Are you Christina Macadam?
Christina Macadam is a psychodynamic psychotherapist for children, adolescents and young adults at Nightingale Hospital in London. She is registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and is a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists.
She completed her clinical training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, qualifying her to work therapeutically with children, young people and families. Prior to this, she undertook a pre-clinical master's degree in psychoanalytic developmental psychology at University College London, through the Anna Freud Centre, with a focus on development from infancy to young adulthood.
Since 2015, she has worked therapeutically with a wide range of emotional, social and mental health difficulties across various settings including NHS CAMHS (both inpatient Tier 4 and community Tier 3 services), schools, and third sector organisations. She also has previous experience teaching young people aged 16 and over, as well as adults. Alongside her current work at Nightingale Hospital, she also practises privately and holds an honorary role as an adult psychotherapist at Charing Cross Hospital.
Her therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic principles and further informed by attachment theory and developmental neuroscience. She offers a warm, inclusive, and non-judgemental space where individuals can explore thoughts, feelings and experiences. Her aim is to support young people in developing self-awareness, fostering deeper connections, and achieving meaningful change.
Christina supports individuals facing a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic attacks, mood disorders, interpersonal difficulties, bereavement, stress, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, personality disorders, psychosexual difficulties, and work-related stress. She offers therapy in English.
Her research interests include parent–toddler interventions in challenging environments. She co-authored a publication in the Journal of Child Psychotherapy on the use of the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families Parent–Toddler Group model in a homeless hostel (2020).
