I’ve been treated by Steven for PTSD and trauma specific issues through EMDR therapy. I had very little understanding of EMDR or therapy in general and Steven was incredibly patient and supportive throughout the whole process. He helped me find people or inspirations in my life to help me overcome my trauma. He was incredibly kind and non judgmental throughout the entire process and I can feel a huge difference since beginning this therapy. Thank you!
I have been seeing Dr Steve McFarlane for the past few months, and he has helped me transform my life. I was experiencing regular anxiety attacks due to childhood trauma, and we worked on this together through EMDR. He helped create a safe and comfortable environment for me, and was supportive every step of the way. I will forever be thankful to Steve and London City Therapy for all the assistance I’ve received. He helped me revolutionised my life.
Steven is an amazing therapist. He is empathetic and skilful. He offers a highly adaptive approach and gives rooms for whatever the I brought to the sessions. He offers EMDR, cognitive behavioural and talking therapy. Steven is focused on developing skills that can be used in the future. I would recommend Steven to anyone that is looking for an experienced and empathetic therapist.
It has been really great being able to work with Steve the past few months. I am very happy with the progressive we have made together and I wholeheartedly recommend him to others.
Steven is an excellent and empathetic therapist. After having several bad experiences with other therapists I met Steven and immediately felt at ease. Steven listens and is non judgemental. When I first started working with him earlier in the year following a traumatic car crash, I thought I would never drive again. Using EMDR therapy, it has taken hard work but I am now back to driving for which I will forever be grateful. I hope this gives hope to anyone in a similar scenario, and encourages you to reach out for help.
When I met Steven for my first appointment I was at the lowest I ever felt in my life. Through a series of unfortunate life and work events I had developed anxiety and depression. Steven was always kind and patient, listening to me. But more importantly, he was asking the right questions which made me really think about how I ended up where I was and what I can do to get back to my happy self. He was always there for our sessions and in a way the sessions became my comfort zone when I felt lost. Few months with Steven has helped me return back to myself, feel happy again and over the course of these, have changed my life for the better. I cant recommend Steven enough as a therapist. As I said in my last session, hopefully I never have to see you again - but if I ever feel the need, Steven will be my first call. Thank you again for everything you did for me.

Thank you for this. It genuinely means everything to us. That comment about never needing to see us again? That's genuinely the best compliment a therapist could get. It means you've got the strength & tools now. We are always here if you ever need us. We're so glad you're back to yourself & feeling happy again. Thank you for trusting us on your journey. Warmest regards London City Therapy Team
Steven is very personable, knowledgeable, and empathetic. He takes time to understand you and adapts his approach to what you need in each session. I came to EMDR with both past and recent traumas that hadn’t been resolved through traditional talk therapy, and working with Steven has made a real difference. I’ve been carrying trauma for years and finally have hope that I can recover. I highly recommend Steven.

Thank you for this heartfelt review. We're thrilled our EMDR work has brought you hope. We're so pleased it's working for you where other methods fell short. We're honoured to be part of your healing journey. Steven will be delighted to read your kind words. Thank you for trusting us with your recovery. We're here for every step forward. Best wishes, The London City Therapy Team
