Cassandra Govender

Cassandra Govender is a Clinical Psychologist and Lead Therapist for General Psychiatry at Nightingale Hospital in London. She has experience supporting adults, adolescents and families across various clinical settings and currently leads the psychological therapy service within the inpatient unit. Her role involves direct patient care, supervision of team members, strategic planning, service development, and integrating evidence-based interventions into multidisciplinary care.

Before moving to the UK, Cassandra trained and practised in South Africa, working in hospital and community settings. She held the role of Mental Health Supervisor for Médecins Sans Frontières on the Tshwane Migrant Project and worked in private practice and public mental health services. Since joining Nightingale Hospital in 2021, she has worked as a Clinical Psychologist and Deputy Lead Therapist before stepping into her current role. She also has experience delivering psychoeducation and process groups, supervising assistant psychologists, conducting clinical assessments, and implementing trauma-informed care. Her approach draws from psychodynamic therapy, DBT, CBT, CBT-E, compassion-based and mindfulness principles.

Cassandra believes in creating a non-judgemental and empowering space, helping individuals gain insight into their lives and develop practical tools for change. She works collaboratively and is particularly interested in how different identities and life contexts influence psychological wellbeing.

She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
