Dr Biju Jose

Dr Biju Jose specialised in endocrinology and diabetes mellitus as well as general (internal) medicine, having completed the West Midlands Specialist Registrar Training programme. He works at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and has been a consultant Endocrinologist since 2012 at the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) NHS Trust.

Dr Jose leads the UHNM Pituitary MDT services and was instrumental in modernising the pituitary pathways. He also leads the lipid service, having brought about changes to the lipid service, which now works well with regional alliances and delivers genetic testing as well as newer treatments.

Dr Jose is a member of the West Midlands Familial Hypercholesterolemia Genetic Screening Steering group. He is also a member of the West Midlands Genetic Endocrine Network. He also works closely with the genitourinary team and developed a virtual metabolic clinic for patients with HIV.

Dr Jose has an active interest in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching. He has been the Prescribing Skills Lead for Keele Medical School for 7 years and a senior lecturer at the university. He is also the Clinical Lead for Simulation training for University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

Dr Jose's private consulations are at the Nuffield Health North Staffordshire Hospital and Sutton Medical Consulting Centre. His special interests include pituitary disease and pituitary tumour management, lipid disorders (including familial hypercholesterolemia, post MI and stroke secondary prevention, PCSK9 inhibitor injection therapies and newer therapies), thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal disorders as well as diabetes mellitus.

Dr Jose is currently a member of a number of societies including the Society for Endocrinology, European Society of Endocrinology, Pituitary Foundation, HEART UK and Diabetes UK.

Outside of work, Dr Jose enjoys cooking and baking for the family as well as tinkering on stuff around the house and garden.
