Dr Axel Bex

Dr Axel Bex is a highly distinguished Consultant Urological Surgeon and Professor of Urology who specialises in the field of uro-oncology. With a dedicated focus on genitourinary cancers, he is internationally recognised for his clinical expertise in treating complex kidney cancer, upper urinary tract cancer, and testicular cancer. Dr Bex provides comprehensive care for patients at all stages of renal disease, ranging from small, localised tumours to advanced, high-risk cases that have spread to lymph nodes, major blood vessels, or other organs. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Bex is a leading figure in international urological research and guidelines. He has served in prominent leadership roles, including chairing the European Association of Urology Renal Cancer Guideline Panel and leading the Genitourinary Group of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer. Dr Bex completed his medical degree at the University of Aachen in 1990, before undergoing specialist training in urology at the University of Essen. In 2005, he was awarded a PhD from the University of Utrecht for his research into the multimodality treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma.
