Ramesh is consultant urological surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He undertook his first fellowship at the world-renowned Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland where he was mentored by Professor Urs Studer in prostate and bladder cancer and open reconstructive surgery, particularly in creating ‘Studer' orthotropic bladder substitution.
His second fellowship was in robotic prostate and bladder cancer surgery and reconstruction at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. Ramesh was originally appointed as a consultant urological surgeon at Kent & Canterbury Hospital where he successfully started and led the robotic bladder cancer service for East Kent. In 2014, Ramesh moved to Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital as a consultant urological surgeon to join the internationally renowned tertiary Bladder Cancer Team. He is now the Bladder Cancer Lead at Guy's & St Thomas'.
Ramesh performs both open and robotic surgery including intra-corporeal urinary diversion including orthotopic neobladders using the Da Vinci robotic system for bladder cancer and reconstructive surgery. In addition, Ramesh started and now runs the first and only dedicated Radiation Cystitis Clinic in the UK dealing with all aspects of urological problems following pelvic radiotherapy. He also has a specialist interest in Genomics Medicine dealing with personalised healthcare.
Ramesh completed his MD thesis with the University of London in Prostate Cancer and has published over 20 articles on various topics within urology in international journals. He is a tutor at King's College London GKT School of Medical Education and the clinical supervisor for the Royal College of Surgeons (BAUS) Bladder Cancer Fellowship.
Ramesh sees all general urological complaints and have particular interests in urological cancers, radiation cystitis, recurrent urinary tract infections and chronic pelvic pain.
Ramesh is married to a GP and has 2 boys. He live in Hertfordshire and enjoys keeping fit and cooking.
