Dr Augustin Brooks

Dr Augustin Brooks is a highly accomplished Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist who specialises in the management of complex endocrine and metabolic disorders. With a patient-centred approach, he provides comprehensive care for individuals dealing with a wide range of conditions, including thyroid disorders, metabolic syndrome, and various forms of diabetes. Dr Brooks is dedicated to delivering individualised treatment plans, utilising advanced diagnostic techniques and modern therapeutic options to support his patients in achieving optimal health and well-being.

In his clinical practice, Dr Brooks has a particular interest in type 1 diabetes management, including the delivery of specialised sensor and pump clinic services. His expertise extends to managing diabetic neuropathy, secondary diabetes, and recurrent hypoglycaemia, as well as collaborating on joint retinal services. He also possesses valuable research experience in pancreas and islet transplant services within tertiary care settings. Beyond direct patient care, Dr Brooks contributes to the wider medical community as a Member of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence Diabetes Guideline Development Group and a regional diabetes formulary committee, helping to shape clinical standards and guidelines.

Dr Brooks began his medical journey at the University of Oxford, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Physiology in 1998. He then completed his medical training at King's College London, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2001. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2006 and went on to obtain his Specialty Certificate in Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2011. Committed to clinical research, he earned a Doctor of Medicine in Cellular Medicine from Newcastle University in 2016. In recognition of his clinical excellence and contributions to the field, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2019.
