Dr Asma Sarwar

Dr Asma Sarwar is a highly dedicated Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in the comprehensive management of gynaecological malignancies. She provides compassionate, patient-centred care for individuals diagnosed with cervical, endometrial, ovarian, vaginal, and vulval cancers. Committed to delivering evidence-based cancer care, Dr Sarwar works closely with multidisciplinary teams to formulate tailored treatment plans that prioritise patient wellbeing, comfort, and optimal clinical outcomes.

Dr Sarwar completed her medical education (MBBS) and intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc) at University College London, qualifying in 2006. She subsequently achieved Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and completed her Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in 2017. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic medicine, she earned a master's degree in oncology in 2017 and was awarded a research Doctor of Medicine degree (MD Res) in 2022, focusing her research on advanced brachytherapy for cervical cancer. Dr Sarwar is actively affiliated with several leading professional organisations, including the Royal College of Radiologists, the British Gynaecological Cancer Society, the International Gynaicologic Cancer Society, and the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology.

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of modern non-surgical cancer therapies, including image-guided radiotherapy, photon radiotherapy, advanced brachytherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biological therapy, and targeted treatments. Alongside her clinical responsibilities, Dr Sarwar serves in clinical leadership and educational roles, acting as a Royal College Tutor for oncology trainees and serving as a Principal Investigator for clinical trials. Her research interests focus on advancing radiotherapy techniques, including proton beam therapy research, and utilising real-world evidence to enhance cancer treatment efficacy and minimise side effects.
