Dr Asif Basheer Mir

Dr Asif Basheer Mir is a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in general adult psychiatry. Known for his compassionate and patient-centred approach, Dr Mir focuses on establishing strong therapeutic relationships built on active listening, empathy, and mutual respect. He works collaboratively with patients to gain a thorough understanding of their mental health challenges and to formulate holistic management plans tailored to their individual needs.

Dr Mir earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in India in 2000. He completed his undergraduate psychiatric training in England, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2009. Following this, Dr Mir undertook higher postgraduate psychiatric training in Manchester, receiving his Certificate of Completion of Training in adult psychiatry in 2014. In addition, he earned a Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Manchester in 2013. Dr Mir maintains active membership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Throughout his clinical career, Dr Mir has managed a broad spectrum of mental health conditions across inpatient, community, and rehabilitation settings. His clinical practice encompasses both the assessment and treatment of acute, short-term psychiatric crises as well as the implementation of long-term recovery and prevention strategies. He has a particular interest in psychosis, complex adult psychiatric disorders, and mental health rehabilitation, utilising evidence-based psychiatric interventions to promote both psychological and physical well-being.

In addition to his direct clinical care, Dr Mir is deeply invested in medical education and clinical quality improvement. He contributes actively to postgraduate teaching programmes for psychiatric trainees and serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Through ongoing continuous professional development, Dr Mir ensures that his clinical practice remains aligned with the latest medical advancements, allowing him to deliver compassionate and evidence-based care to every patient.
