About Mr Aroon Baskaradas

"My goal is to help every patient make the right decision for them, whether that involves surgery or not."

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, with almost 20 years' experience in trauma and orthopaedics. My practice focuses on hip and knee replacement surgery, including robotic-assisted knee replacement, knee arthroscopy and the management of lower limb injuries. I am a Consultant at Northwick Park Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital, having trained at Imperial College School of Medicine and completed two internationally recognised fellowships in hip and knee surgery.

My philosophy is simple: I treat every patient as I would want my own family to be treated - with kindness, honesty and the highest standard of care.

I believe that every patient deserves to feel listened to, understood and empowered to make the right decision for themselves. No two people are the same. Although scans and X-rays are important, they only tell part of the story. Every person's symptoms, lifestyle, goals and expectations are different, so every treatment plan should be tailored to the individual.

My role is not simply to diagnose a problem or perform an operation. It is to understand what matters most to you, explain your condition in clear, straightforward language, and help you decide on the treatment that best fits your circumstances.

I believe the best decisions are shared decisions. During your consultation, I will take the time to explain what is happening, discuss all appropriate treatment options, and outline the benefits, limitations and potential risks of each approach. I want every patient to leave understanding their condition, feeling reassured, and confident that they have made an informed decision.

Many orthopaedic conditions improve without surgery. Where appropriate, I will recommend physiotherapy, injections, lifestyle modifications or simply allowing time for the body to heal. I never want patients to feel pressured into having an operation. My responsibility is to give honest, evidence-based advice based on my experience, explain the options clearly, and recommend what I genuinely believe is in your best interests. Surgery is never the starting point—it is the right option only when it is genuinely likely to improve pain, function and quality of life.

When surgery is the best choice, I approach every operation with the same care and attention that I would want for someone close to me. I deliberately take the time needed to perform each procedure meticulously because every patient deserves unhurried, thoughtful care. Whether carrying out a knee arthroscopy, hip replacement or robotic-assisted knee replacement, my focus is on precision, careful planning and respecting the body, while honouring the trust that every patient places in me.

That trust is something I value deeply and never take for granted. Looking after my patients does not end when the operation is over. I remain closely involved throughout recovery, providing ongoing support and taking personal responsibility for helping patients achieve the best possible outcome. Whilst every operation carries risks and recovery is not always straightforward, if unexpected challenges arise, I will work with you every step of the way to overcome them.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am passionate about continually improving my own skills and knowledge. Medicine never stands still, and neither should we. I regularly undertake advanced professional development and training to ensure my patients benefit from modern, evidence-based techniques where they have been shown to improve outcomes. I also have a strong commitment to teaching and serve as a Lecturer in Orthopaedics at Brunel Medical School and as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor within the NHS, helping to train the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.

For me, orthopaedic surgery is about far more than replacing a joint or repairing an injury. It is about restoring independence, confidence and quality of life. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone return to clinic smiling—walking comfortably, getting back to sport, playing with their grandchildren or simply enjoying everyday life again without the pain that once limited them.

Those moments are why I became an orthopaedic surgeon, and they continue to inspire me to strive for the very highest standards for every patient I have the privilege to care for.

What You Can Expect From Me

When you choose me as your surgeon, you can expect that I will:

Listen first. I want to understand not only your symptoms, but also how they affect your work, hobbies, family life and the activities that matter most to you.

Explain things clearly. I will ensure you understand your diagnosis, what it means, and every appropriate treatment option in plain, straightforward language.

Give honest, independent advice. I will only recommend surgery if I genuinely believe it is the right treatment for you. If a non-operative approach is more appropriate, I will tell you.

Help you make the decision that's right for you. My role is to guide and advise—not to persuade. Every patient's circumstances are different, and the best decision is one that reflects your goals, expectations and lifestyle.

Treat every operation with the utmost care. Whether your procedure is straightforward or complex, I will approach it with meticulous planning, precision and attention to detail, treating you as I would want a member of my own family to be treated.

Support you throughout your recovery. My commitment to your care does not end when the operation is over. I will remain involved throughout your recovery and, if unexpected challenges arise, I will work with you to achieve the best possible outcome.

Never stop improving. I continually update my knowledge, refine my techniques and embrace evidence-based advances in orthopaedic surgery so that my patients benefit from the highest standard of modern care.

Above all, I believe that the trust my patients place in me is a privilege. Every consultation, every decision and every operation is an opportunity to honour that trust by providing the care, honesty and professionalism that I would expect for my own family.

It was refreshing and an actual pleasure to have been seen by Mr Baskaradas today. I was very nervous and anxious about my appointment and the possible outcome. However, Mr Baskaradas quickly made me feel at ease and relaxed. He explained everything in a way that I understood and answered mine and my sister's questions. I did not feel rushed as can happen in such appointments. Thank you Mr Baskaradas!
