Dr Andrea Leigh

Dr Andrea Leigh is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician who provides comprehensive, empathetic care for infants, children, and young people. Practising across acute paediatric departments, inpatient units, and outpatient clinics, she delivers expert diagnosis and management for a broad spectrum of childhood medical conditions. Dr Leigh conducts general paediatric evaluations and rapid access consultations, ensuring young patients receive prompt, personalised attention tailored to their developmental stage and overall well-being.

With a strong focus on paediatric haematology, Dr Leigh has extensive experience in managing complex red cell disorders, including sickle cell disorder and thalassaemia. She collaborates closely within multi-disciplinary medical teams to deliver structured long-term care, oversight of blood transfusions, and continuous monitoring for children living with chronic blood conditions. Additionally, Dr Leigh holds a specialist interest in paediatric supportive care oncology, helping to establish supportive care pathways for children undergoing intensive treatments such as proton beam therapy. She is also deeply committed to adolescent health, with a focus on guiding young individuals through the transition from paediatric to adult health services.

Dr Leigh qualified from Barts and The London Medical School in 2001, earning a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) alongside a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Neuroscience. She subsequently completed post-graduate specialty training in general and subspecialty paediatrics across major clinical units, gaining advanced expertise in paediatric oncology, haemoglobinopathy services, and acute child health care.
