Dr Ammar Natalwala

Dr Ammar Natalwala is a highly skilled Neurosurgeon specialising in brain and complex neurological conditions. With extensive clinical expertise in advanced neurosurgical care, he provides comprehensive, patient-centred management for individuals presenting with complex neurological disorders. His clinical focus centres on precision surgical interventions, including neuromodulation, brain tumour management, and stereotactic procedures, aiming to restore neurological function and enhance quality of life for his patients.

Dr Natalwala completed his medical degree (MBChB) alongside an intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons). He further advanced his scientific and surgical training by completing a Wellcome Trust-funded PhD in stem cell research at the University of Edinburgh. He attained his UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Neurosurgery in 2024. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS SN) and a Fellow of the European Board of Neurological Surgery (FEBNS). Dr Natalwala has also held prestigious academic positions as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer and Senior Clinical Fellow.

In clinical practice, Dr Natalwala possesses sub-specialist expertise in functional neurosurgery and neuro-oncology. He has a strong clinical focus on movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and Tourette syndrome. His procedural capabilities include Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), stereotactic lesioning for tremor and chronic pain, and surgical resection of brain tumours, such as gliomas. Furthermore, he remains active in pioneering research involving cell- and gene-based therapies and intra-operative MRI-guided neurosurgery to deliver innovative, evidence-based care.
