Dr Amit Batla

Dr Amit Batla is a highly accomplished Consultant Neurologist and Movement Disorders Specialist who provides expert, reassuring care for patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions. He has a particular clinical focus on movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease, dystonia, tremors, and multiple system atrophy. Dedicated to delivering patient-centred care, Dr Batla is also highly regarded for his work in managing rare movement disorders and running specialised transition clinics that support young people as they move from paediatric to adult neurological services.

In his clinical practice, Dr Batla offers comprehensive diagnostic assessments and tailored medical treatment plans designed to improve his patients' quality of life. He is highly skilled in administering advanced therapies, such as botulinum toxin injections for the treatment of dystonia and other movement disorders. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in pioneering clinical research, serving as a Principal Investigator on studies investigating microstructural brain changes, brain calcification, and innovative therapeutic options for neurodegenerative conditions.

Dr Batla completed his undergraduate medical training, earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Nagpur University in 1997. He went on to pursue postgraduate medical education, obtaining a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Doctorate in Neurology (DM) in India. After relocating to the United Kingdom, he completed a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship in movement disorders and earned a Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Education in London. Dr Batla is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He also holds a prominent leadership role as the Chair of the Education Committee for the Association of British Neurologists, reflecting his deep commitment to medical education and the training of future healthcare professionals.
