Dr Alvin Schadenberg

Dr Alvin Schadenberg is a dedicated Consultant Paediatric Intensivist specialising in Paediatrics and Paediatric Critical Care. He provides expert care for critically ill infants, children, and young people, offering comprehensive medical support to young patients and their families during critical health challenges. Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary clinical teams, Dr Schadenberg ensures that every child receives high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based care tailored to their unique clinical requirements.

His clinical practice covers a broad range of paediatric critical care services, with specialised focus on Paediatric Intensive Care, Paediatric Cardiology, and acute paediatric transport and retrieval services. Dr Schadenberg maintains an active research portfolio, with specific clinical interest in managing inflammatory responses in children undergoing congenital heart surgery, including evaluating the efficacy of perioperative corticosteroid therapies. Furthermore, he is closely involved in clinical governance, medical education, and Child Death Review processes to continuously elevate clinical standards and patient safety.

Dr Schadenberg completed his postgraduate medical training in Paediatrics in the Netherlands before completing an advanced clinical fellowship in Paediatric Intensive Care and Paediatric Cardiology. In 2013, he was awarded a PhD for his research examining inflammatory responses following congenital cardiac surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM).
