About Dr Alex Simms
Dr. Alexander Simms is a Consultant Cardiologist with many years of experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cardiac conditions and in particular heart failure, inherited cardiovascular conditions, and implantation and management of pacemakers including cardiac synchronisation therapy (biventricular pacing) and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) therapy. Dr. Simms centres his practice around giving his patients as much information as possible, to let them make informed decisions. He sees private patients at the Nuffield Health Leeds Hospitals.
Dr. Simms earned his primary medical qualification at the University of Leeds, after which he undertook specialist training, completing his Medical Doctorate in 2012 and gaining knowledge and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiomyopathy, at the Heart Hospital, London, and The Advanced Heart Failure Unit, Manchester.
Since his appointment in 2014, Dr. Simms has become a crucial part of the Regional Leeds inherited cardiovascular conditions service and the Leeds Regional Combined Cardiology and Obstetrics Service. He is the clinical lead for heart failure in Leeds developing and supporting a stronger more integrated service for people living with heart failure in Leeds. He is also an active member of the scientific research community and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles n renowned cardiology journals.
