Dr Alex Mortimer

Dr Alex Mortimer is a highly skilled Consultant Radiologist and Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist who provides comprehensive diagnostic imaging and minimally invasive interventional care. Specialising in advanced neuroimaging and targeted image-guided therapies, Dr Mortimer works alongside multidisciplinary medical teams to deliver precise diagnoses and tailored clinical solutions. He is deeply committed to patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals feel thoroughly informed, reassured, and supported throughout every stage of their diagnostic and therapeutic care.

In his clinical practice, Dr Mortimer focuses on neurovascular imaging, interventional neuroradiology, and image-guided procedures. His expertise encompasses the diagnostic evaluation and treatment of complex conditions affecting the blood vessels of the brain and spine, including acute stroke, cerebral aneurysms, subdural haematomas, and dural fistulas. He routinely performs advanced procedures such as mechanical thrombectomy, carotid stenting, middle meningeal artery embolisation, and targeted spinal procedures designed to alleviate persistent pain, utilising modern imaging techniques to optimise clinical outcomes and patient comfort.

Dr Mortimer earned his medical degree (MBChB) alongside a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in 2003. He subsequently completed his general radiology training in the Severn Deanery before undertaking specialist fellowship training in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology in Bristol and Sydney. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR). Through his ongoing involvement in medical research and education, Dr Mortimer stays dedicated to advancing field practices and maintaining high standards of clinical care.
