Dr Ajay Verma

Dr Ajay Verma is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician who qualified at the University of Leicester medical school and trained in the Midlands. He started his Consultant role at Kettering General Hospital (KGH) in 2015.

In addition to his Consultant role, he is the Director of Research & Innovation at University Hospitals Northamptonshire (Kettering and Northampton General Hospitals) and the East Midlands Speciality lead for Gastroenterology and Hepatology for the National Institute Health Research.

He is a member of the inflammatory bowel disease section committee for the British Society of Gastroenterology. He was a lead authot of the British Society of Gastroenterology inflammatory bowel disease guidelines (2025), and iron deficiency anaemia guidelines (2021).

Dr Ajay Verma is an active clinical researcher, and a Honorary Associate Professor for the Leicester Cancer Research Centre for the University of Leicester, and chief investigator for the CRUK funded COLO-PREVENT study - run by the University of Leicester.
