Dr Ajay Sud

Dr Ajay Sud is a Consultant General Surgeon who specialises in upper gastrointestinal (upper GI) surgery and minimally invasive techniques. He provides comprehensive care for patients presenting with both emergency and elective general surgical conditions. Dedicated to a reassuring and patient-centred approach, Dr Sud focuses on delivering thorough clinical assessments and clear, tailored treatment strategies for every patient.

His clinical practice encompasses a broad spectrum of upper gastrointestinal and general surgical interventions. Dr Sud possesses expertise in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures for both benign and malignant conditions. His clinical areas of interest include the diagnosis and surgical management of stomach and oesophageal conditions, such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), hiatus hernias, swallowing and motility disorders, and upper GI malignancies. Additionally, he treats gallstone disease, performs abdominal wall hernia repairs, and contributes to multi-disciplinary care for complex gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr Sud completed his higher surgical training within the North West Deanery, gaining extensive experience in oesophagogastric and general surgery. Alongside his clinical training, he pursued academic research and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). He holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS in General Surgery) and remains actively involved in medical education, clinical research, and national surgical initiatives to ensure his practice consistently reflects the latest evidence-based standards.
