Mr Abdulzahra Hussain

Mr Abulzahra Hussain is a consultant general surgeon based in Doncaster, where he specialises in general and weight loss surgery. He has vast experience in both minimal access and open surgery and has worked across the Middle East, Europe and the UK, performing thousands of endoscopy procedures.

His clinical interests are in:

• Benign upper GI and bariatric surgery
• Weight reduction and metabolic surgery
• Revisional bariatric /weight loss surgery
• Hernia surgery
• Gall bladder surgery
• Biliary surgery
• Anti-reflux surgery
• Upper and Lower GI Endoscopy/Gastroscopy/flexible sigmoidoscopy/colonoscopy]

Mr Hussain gained his medical degree in 1989 before undertaking higher surgical training in 1997 and spending time training in Austria, Germany and the UK. He was awarded his FRCS Ireland in 2000 and went on to train in general and upper GI and bariatric surgery at Princess Royal University Hospital and King's College Hospital. In 2012, he gained his FRCS in general surgery and Fellowship of the European Board in General Surgery.

In addition, he is an expert in endoscopy and is accredited by JAG for both upper and lower GI procedures. Mr Hussain has also published over 160 research papers in well-respected journals, and he sits on the editorial board for the British Journal of Surgical Science.

He speaks both English and Arabic.
