Dr Shannon McCarthy

Dr Shannon McCarthy is a dedicated and highly skilled Endocrinologist who provides comprehensive care in general adult endocrinology. With a patient-centred approach, she is committed to helping individuals manage complex hormonal and metabolic conditions. Dr McCarthy has a particular clinical interest in metabolic bone diseases and obstetric endocrinology, ensuring that patients receive tailored, evidence-based treatment plans to support their long-term health and well-being.

Dr McCarthy completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours at the University of Tasmania in 2006, where she was also awarded the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Prize. She went on to complete her comprehensive Physician training across several major metropolitan and regional health services. In 2015, she achieved her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Her academic qualifications also include a Bachelor of Medical Science, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr McCarthy is actively involved in medical education, dedicating her time to teaching medical students and junior doctors. She also contributes to clinical research, having previously served as a Clinical Trials Fellow. This commitment to ongoing education and research ensures she remains at the forefront of advancements in endocrinology.
