Dr Ruth Hodgson

Dr Ruth Hodgson is a highly dedicated Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, and Fertility Specialist who provides compassionate, supportive, and patient-centred care. She is deeply committed to helping individuals and couples navigate their reproductive journeys, offering a holistic approach that combines clinical excellence with genuine empathy. Understanding the profound emotional and physical challenges of fertility struggles, Dr Hodgson works closely with her patients to educate and empower them, ensuring they feel supported at every stage of their treatment.

With a broad range of expertise in women's health, Dr Hodgson has a particular clinical interest in endometriosis-related infertility, a field in which she has also published research. Her clinical focus extends to managing complex cases of recurrent pregnancy loss, unexplained infertility, and fertility preservation. She offers comprehensive care across general gynaecology and obstetrics, as well as advanced fertility treatments such as In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), ovulation induction, and intrauterine insemination. Her approach is always tailored to the unique needs of each patient, aiming to support natural conception where possible and utilising evidence-based medical interventions when required.

Dr Hodgson completed her undergraduate medical training at James Cook University, graduating in 2007. She commenced her specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Sydney in 2011, gaining valuable international experience in Auckland, New Zealand, before returning to Queensland to complete her final year. Upon sitting her membership examinations, she was awarded the prestigious Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) medal for outstanding achievement. Dr Hodgson is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and has pursued further academic excellence by undertaking a Masters of Reproductive Medicine through the University of New South Wales.
