Dr Robert Baird

Dr Robert Baird is a highly regarded, Australian-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in the management of musculoskeletal conditions affecting the hip and knee. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on delivering comprehensive care for individuals experiencing joint pain, mobility issues, and complex orthopaedic trauma. His clinical expertise encompasses joint replacement surgery, revision joint replacement surgery, and advanced robotic-assisted orthopaedic procedures, ensuring patients receive modern and precise treatment options tailored to their unique needs.

In addition to his civilian practice, Dr Baird has a distinguished background as a member of the Australian Defence Force, having served as a Trauma Surgeon in Afghanistan. This intensive experience in high-pressure environments has refined his skills in managing complex trauma and reconstructive cases. Following his initial orthopaedic training, he pursued further international subspecialty fellowships in Canada, focusing on complex joint replacement surgery in Toronto and orthopaedic trauma surgery in Vancouver. This extensive training allows him to address challenging cases, including joint revisions necessitated by fractures, infections, loosening, instability, or implant failures.

Dr Baird began his academic journey at the University of Adelaide, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1995, followed by a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in 1996. He then completed his medical training at Flinders University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2000. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2008.
