Dr Richard Wolfe

Dr Richard Wolfe is a highly accomplished and internationally recognised Ophthalmologist and Eye Surgeon based in Elsternwick, Victoria. Dedicated to helping patients improve their vision through surgical innovation and personalised care, Dr Wolfe has established himself as a leading figure in the field of refractive and cataract surgery. He is committed to providing safe, precise, and evidence-based treatments tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Dr Wolfe completed his medical degree at Monash University, followed by his medical and surgical residency across several Melbourne hospitals. He then undertook his specialist training in Ophthalmology at a major specialist eye and ear hospital in Victoria. Dr Wolfe holds Fellowships with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) and the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences (WCRS), and was previously a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He is also a co-founder and member of the Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (AUSCRS), and maintains active memberships with several international ophthalmic organisations.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Wolfe has pioneered numerous advanced surgical techniques in Australia. He was among the first surgeons in Victoria to perform LASIK and LASEK procedures, and he introduced modern cataract techniques, such as foldable intraocular lenses and corneal incisions, to the region. His clinical interests encompass a wide range of vision correction procedures, including customised LASIK, PRK, and micro-incision cataract surgery. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Wolfe has served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Australian Defence Force Reserves, advising on refractive surgery policies and visual standards.
