Dr Julie Beak

Dr Julie Beak is a Consultant Paediatrician and Director of Paedicare. She provides newborn services at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane and delivers specialist private paediatric care from Paedicare’s rooms in the Salmon Building on Mater’s South Brisbane campus.

Dr Beak completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland, graduating in 1993. She was awarded Fellowship in General Paediatrics with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2005. Her specialist training included broad exposure to paediatric sub-specialties at the former Mater Children’s Hospital, senior registrar roles in neonatology at the Royal Women’s Hospital Brisbane, and an infectious diseases fellowship at the former Royal Children’s Hospital. She also completed a Fellowship in Child Protection.

Her clinical interests include neonatology, infant development, and the care of children with complex medical needs. Over the past five years, Dr Beak has worked in private practice in Cleveland, providing neonatal cover to Mater Private Hospital Redland and general paediatric care. She previously served as a Consultant Paediatrician at the former Mater Children’s Hospital for ten years and, following its closure, transitioned her public practice to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr Beak balances professional commitments with family life and maintains interests outside medicine.
