A/Prof Jonathan Segal

Associate Professor Jonathan Segal is a highly regarded Gastroenterologist specialising in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) with a particular focus on the ileoanal pouch, a subspecialty within IBD. He is recognised internationally as an expert in this field.

Dr. Segal has completed his PhD and received training at some of the world's leading IBD centres, including St. Mark's Hospital. He welcomes direct contact from referrers for advice and ensures that patients receive prompt initial consultations with minimal waiting times for privately insured endoscopy procedures. 

Dr. Segal provides consultations and performs procedures at St. Vincent's Private Hospital in Werribee. He also holds public appointments at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter Mac Hospital. 

His areas of expertise encompass endoscopy, colonoscopy, gastroscopy, bowel cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and functional bowel disorders.

Dr. Segal's qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Birmingham in 2009, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Imperial College London in 2019, a Bachelor of Science (BSc HONS) in 2006, Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP London) in 2011, and Fellow of the Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2023. He also holds an Honorary Clinical Associate Professorship at the University of Melbourne. Dr. Segal's extensive publications include over 110 PubMed-indexed articles.
