Dr William Chung

Dr. William Chung is a Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and Endoscopist, serving as a consultant specialist at the Austin Hospital and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. With a medical degree from the University of Melbourne, Dr. Chung is currently pursuing a PhD in liver cancer research.

Dr. Chung has a wide-ranging expertise encompassing hepatology, endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, bowel cancer screening, liver cancer screening and treatment, viral hepatitis (hepatitis B and C), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, iron deficiency anaemia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. He dedicates his time to clinical care and research, ensuring comprehensive management for his patients.

Regularly visiting Goulburn Valley Health, Shepparton for clinics and endoscopy lists, Dr. Chung has contributed significantly to the development of an Inflammatory Bowel Disease service at the facility, enhancing patient care in the region.

Dr. Chung has undertaken training across Australia, America and the UK, He completed a Senior Clinical Fellowship in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital in London, United Kingdom (2019-2020). Additionally, he undertook a month-long observership at the Gastroenterology department at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge University, United Kingdom (2014). Dr. Chung's dedication to learning and collaboration is further highlighted by his sub-internship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, United States, during medical school, where he received high honours and commendations.
