Dr. John Yek

Dr. John Yek is a highly qualified Ophthalmologist who specialises in glaucoma and cataract surgery. Based in Dubbo, he provides comprehensive ophthalmic care with a strong focus on the diagnosis, clinical management, and surgical treatment of complex eye conditions. Dr. Yek is dedicated to delivering patient-centred care, utilising advanced techniques to preserve and restore vision for his patients. His clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of modern ophthalmic procedures, ensuring that individuals receive tailored treatment plans suited to their unique visual needs.

Dr. Yek completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Biomedicine at a leading Victorian university, where he was awarded the prestigious University Medal and the Sunderland Prize in Neuroscience. He went on to obtain his Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from a prominent national university, receiving multiple academic accolades including the John Buckingham Research Award. Dr. Yek undertook his specialist Ophthalmology training at a renowned eye hospital in Sydney, followed by a dedicated glaucoma fellowship at a major tertiary hospital. In 2024, he achieved his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO), cementing his status as a fully qualified specialist in his field.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Yek is actively involved in medical education and research. He serves as a Clinical Lecturer, teaching and mentoring Medical Students and supervising training Ophthalmology Registrars in cataract surgery. His research contributions include several peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognised medical journals. Dr. Yek has a particular clinical interest in Micro Incisional Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) and complex glaucoma surgery for advanced cases, offering patients the latest minimally invasive options to manage intraocular pressure effectively.
