Dr Anil Arora

Dr Anil Arora is an ophthalmologist with experience in cataract, retinal and refractive surgery. He has been treating patients on the Central Coast and in Sydney since 1998 and has performed tens of thousands of ophthalmic procedures during his career. His clinical interests include cataract surgery, particularly the use of multifocal intraocular lenses, retinal disease and surgery, and laser refractive surgery.

Dr Arora graduated in Medicine from the University of Sydney in 1985. He subsequently undertook internship and residency training before completing five years of specialist ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital between 1988 and 1993. He was also among the early graduates of the Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology programme, completing research in retinal electrophysiology.

Further subspecialist training took Dr Arora to the University of Texas in Houston, where he completed a clinical fellowship in Diseases and Surgery of the Retina and Vitreous from 1997 to 1998. Following his return to Australia, he contributed to establishing retinal surgery on the Central Coast, allowing these procedures to be provided locally.

Dr Arora later undertook postgraduate training in laser refractive surgery and was among the first doctors to obtain a Graduate Diploma in Medicine in Refractive Surgery from the University of Sydney. His experience across retinal, cataract and refractive surgery therefore reflects several areas of dedicated postgraduate and subspecialist training.

Professional affiliations include the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
