Dr Craig Donaldson

Dr Craig Donaldson is a highly respected and distinguished Ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care for both adult and paediatric patients. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he specialises in general ophthalmology, with particular expertise in the management of cataracts, strabismus (ocular misalignment), and paediatric eye diseases. His dedication to the prevention of blindness and his clinical excellence have earned him significant recognition, including being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his outstanding service to medicine and ophthalmology.

Dr Donaldson graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney. He completed his specialist ophthalmic training at a major tertiary eye hospital in Sydney before pursuing advanced fellowship training in strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology at a world-renowned children's hospital in Toronto, Canada. During his fellowship, he was honoured with the John Gabi Award for his contributions to ophthalmic research. He holds professional fellowships with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) and the Royal College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Throughout his career, Dr Donaldson has held numerous prominent leadership and advisory roles within the ophthalmic community. He has served as the Head of the Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology Unit at a leading eye hospital, and works as a Senior Staff Specialist and Visiting Medical Officer at major paediatric hospitals. Additionally, he has contributed his expertise as the President of the Australia and New Zealand Strabismus Society, a Federal Councillor and Treasurer for the state branch of his professional college, and an External Examiner for international ophthalmic bodies. He is also deeply committed to humanitarian work, having spent considerable time developing regional ophthalmic expertise in developing nations.
