Dr Bryan Matthews

Dr Bryan Matthews is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Retinal Surgeon based in Australia. With a solid background in the field of ophthalmology, he has received specialised training in various aspects of eye care, including medical and surgical retina, ocular oncology, and bespoke cataract surgery.

Dr. Matthews completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom in 1999. His areas of specialisation include both the medical and surgical aspects of retinal care. He is proficient in diagnosing and treating a wide range of retinal conditions and diseases. Additionally, Dr Matthews has an interest in ocular oncology.

Dr Matthews completed his fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO). He has also completed his fellowship with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the United Kingdom (FRCOphth).

Dr. Matthews's training and appointments have taken him across different regions. His experience includes institutions such as the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne and the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, UK. Over the course of his career, he has gained experience in managing surgical and medical conditions affecting the retina and vitreous. He currently serves as a consultant on the surgical retina clinic at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and also the ocular oncology clinic at RVEEH.

Currently, Dr Matthews practices in multiple locations, including Essendon, Berwick, Gladstone Park, and Shepparton making his services easily accessible to patients. He also extends his expertise to various eye clinics, including North West Eye Specialists, Essendon Eye Clinic, Berwick Eye Centre and recently joined the team at Lakeside Eye in South Melbourne.
