A/Prof Anne Brooks

A/Prof Anne Brooks is a highly distinguished and dedicated Ophthalmologist based in East Melbourne, Victoria. With a clinical focus that spans both microsurgery and the medical management of complex eye conditions, she provides comprehensive care to patients seeking to preserve or restore their vision. A/Prof Brooks specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and cataracts, as well as laser treatments and anterior segment disorders. In addition to her clinical practice, A/Prof Brooks is deeply committed to medical education and leadership within the ophthalmic community. A/Prof Brooks completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Melbourne, where she also earned her Doctor of Philosophy in 1991 for her research into corneal abnormalities. She holds a Doctor of Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, having obtained her fellowship in 1984. Her extensive qualifications also include fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the United Kingdom, as well as holding status as an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to ophthalmology and eye health organisations, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2021 and was the first female recipient of the prestigious College Medal from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2019.
