Dr Zane Perkins

Dr Zane Perkins is a Consultant General Surgeon and Consultant Trauma Surgeon who specialises in emergency trauma care and upper gastrointestinal surgical procedures. Dedicated to delivering exemplary medical care, he provides rapid assessment, resuscitation, and surgical management for patients presenting with severe traumatic injuries and acute abdominal conditions. He maintains a compassionate and reassuring clinical approach, prioritising patient safety and clear communication throughout every stage of treatment.

His areas of surgical expertise encompass major trauma resuscitation, emergency abdominal procedures, and upper gastrointestinal care. Dr Perkins has a dedicated clinical interest in advanced resuscitative techniques, including resuscitative thoracotomy, control of severe internal haemorrhage, and the emergency management of penetrating chest and abdominal trauma. In addition to his direct clinical work, he actively engages in pioneering research and digital healthcare initiatives aimed at refining emergency triage protocols and improving survival outcomes for critically injured patients.

Dr Perkins completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, where his interest in emergency surgical care was established. He subsequently undertook extensive specialist training across major trauma networks in South Africa and the United Kingdom, concluding higher surgical training within the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex Deanery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and holds an academic appointment as an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Trauma Science.
