Mr Zain Sohail is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in lower limb arthroplasty, complex trauma surgery, and revision joint reconstruction. He currently practices at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, primarily based at Peterborough City Hospital, where he provides specialist assessment and treatment for a wide range of hip and knee conditions.
Mr Sohail completed his specialist orthopaedic training on the prestigious Cambridge rotation. Following completion of his training, he undertook advanced subspecialty fellowship training in adult lower limb reconstruction through the highly regarded and British Hip Society-accredited JRI Furlong Fellowship in Arthroplasty and Revision Surgery at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. This nationally recognised fellowship provided extensive experience in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, complex lower limb reconstruction, and the management of challenging revision cases.
Driven by a passion for the management of complex trauma, Mr Sohail subsequently served as a Consultant Trauma and Arthroplasty Surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the United Kingdom’s Level 1 Major Trauma Centres. This role further enhanced his expertise in the management of complex lower limb injuries, major trauma, periprosthetic fractures, and challenging reconstructive cases.
His clinical interests include primary hip and knee replacement surgery, revision hip arthroplasty, complex lower limb trauma, and the management of periprosthetic fractures around both hip and knee replacements. He also provides comprehensive arthritis care, including non-operative treatments and joint injections where appropriate, alongside enhanced recovery and day-case joint replacement surgery.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Sohail is actively involved in orthopaedic research, quality improvement, and surgical education. He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and national presentations and remains committed to advancing patient care through evidence-based practice. He is also actively involved in teaching and mentoring orthopaedic trainees within the East of England training programme.
Mr Sohail is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Hip Society, and SICOT.
Mr Sohail believes in delivering personalised, patient-centred care tailored to each individual's needs and goals. His approach combines evidence-based practice with modern surgical techniques, ensuring patients are fully informed and involved in decisions regarding their treatment. His aim is to help patients reduce pain, restore mobility, and return to the activities and quality of life that matter most to them.

The consultant was knowledgeable about my medical history. He listened and explained clearly the pain I was experiencing and how he could help to sort it out. It’s the first time since my hip repair that I finally have a way forward
Other than a bit of a wait (which can’t always be helped, not a complaint) it was clean and cool in the hot weather. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Excellent care from all the staff. Everyone has been wonderful and caring. Couldn’t have asked for better care. Very efficient. Thank you
Very much appreciated all the care given , thank you to everyone
Great at explaining the potential issue and gave a clear way forward to identify how it can be fixed. Kind and professional manner.
