Ms Wiece Koniman

Dr Wiece Koniman is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Homerton Hospital in London, where she currently serves as Lead for the Labour Ward. Her specialist interests include maternal medicine, complex pregnancies and perinatal mental health. She runs the joint diabetes and endocrine clinic alongside a physician, providing expert care for women with pre-existing medical conditions to optimise their health and pregnancy outcomes.

As Lead Consultant for Perinatal Mental Health, she works closely with the multidisciplinary team in the Mother and Baby Unit and in the community to support women experiencing severe mental health challenges during and after pregnancy. Her clinical work includes regular antenatal clinics, elective caesarean section lists, labour ward sessions and emergency gynaecology on calls.

Dr Koniman graduated in Medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 2006 and is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She completed her specialist training across several London hospitals, including the Royal Free, Barnet, North Middlesex, Queen’s (Romford) and Homerton. She was appointed as a consultant at Homerton in 2016 and continues to serve there today. She has also held several leadership and educational roles, including Lead for Antenatal Care, RCOG College Tutor, Educational Supervisor and Medical Appraiser.

In addition to her NHS role, Dr Koniman sees patients privately on Monday mornings at Fertility Plus, 92 Harley Street, offering comprehensive preconception counselling and early pregnancy care. She works closely with women to optimise their health before conception and address underlying medical concerns to improve fertility and pregnancy outcomes. Her approach combines clinical excellence with genuine empathy, creating a supportive environment where women feel heard, informed and confident throughout their fertility and pregnancy journey.
