Mr Vitali Goriaiinov

Mr. Vitali Goriainov is a fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee disorders, with a particular focus on hip sports injuries and hip preservation. His expertise lies in addressing conditions that may lead to hip arthritis, with the aim of preventing or delaying its onset through advanced preservation techniques. Mr. Goriainov is highly skilled in hip preservation surgery, performing procedures such as hip arthroscopy, femoral osteotomy, and soft tissue repairs. For cases where arthritis is too advanced for preservation, he offers hip arthroplasty, ensuring comprehensive care for hip joint issues.

In addition to hip surgery, Mr. Goriainov is an expert in knee surgery, offering joint replacements and arthroscopy. He also utilises robot-assisted technology for knee replacements, enhancing precision and accuracy in implant placement.

Beyond his practice in the UK, Mr. Goriainov serves at Ave Maria Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria, where he was instrumental in the hospital's establishment and continues his role as a managerial and visiting surgeon. He earned his medical degree from the University of Southampton and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. His training includes Basic Trauma and Orthopaedic Training in the Wessex region, followed by a Specialist Fellowship in Hip Arthroscopy and Preservation Surgery at Royal Berkshire County Hospital, Reading.

A dedicated educator and researcher, Mr. Goriainov holds an honorary research fellowship at the University of Southampton. He completed a PhD in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research (University of Southampton), an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering (Cardiff University), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (University of Dundee). With over 20 publications, his research interests encompass Regenerative Medicine, Skeletal Stem Cell research, and the application of novel materials and technologies in joint replacement surgery.
