Miss Vicki Kiesel

Miss Vicki Kiesel is the Lead Genetic Counsellor at the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, and Rutland NHS Genomic Service, bringing over 15 years of expertise in genetic counselling and testing, with a specialisation in cancer genetic testing. With her commitment to ethical and clinically actionable genetic testing, Miss Kiesel has become a respected figure in her field. She serves on several committees, has provided advice to various cancer charities, and has published extensively on multiple aspects of genetics.

Miss Kiesel has lectured at Leicester University and is recognised as an expert witness in genetics. She previously led Genehealth UK from 2014 to 2021 as the Genetic Director, where she was responsible for developing cancer protocols, managing a team of genetic counsellors, and providing strategic advice to the board. Her extensive career has also included teaching cancer risk assessment to allied healthcare professionals, mentoring genetic counsellors, and serving as a GCRB assessor.

Her expertise has led her to work as a medical advisor for a popular BBC drama series and appear on television and radio broadcasts in both the UK and Connecticut, USA. Prior to her work in the UK, Miss Kiesel led the cancer genetics department at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut, where she launched the state’s first colorectal cancer registry. She has also worked with numerous specialists to develop local and national genetic testing guidelines.
