About Mr Varun Sahdev
Mr. Varun Sahdev is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at University Hospitals Southampton, as well as an Honorary Consultant at University College London Hospital (UCLH). He specialises in all aspects of general urology, with a sub-specialist interest in andrology and male genital reconstruction. Mr. Sahdev provides tertiary-level andrology services for the Wessex region and supports the penile cancer service at UCLH.
After qualifying from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 2009, Mr. Sahdev completed his core surgical training in the Oxford Deanery before undertaking higher urological training in the South-West of England. He further honed his expertise through a prestigious fellowship in andrological surgery at UCLH, one of Europe’s leading centres for this field.
Mr. Sahdev has extensive experience in andrological and reconstructive procedures, including surgeries for urethral strictures, Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, vasectomy reversal, male infertility, penile prostheses, and hypogonadism (low testosterone). He regularly performs high-volume surgeries, including urethroplasty, penile prosthesis implantation, surgical sperm retrieval (including Micro-TESE), penile straightening procedures (Nesbit and Lue techniques), and the insertion of artificial urinary sphincters. He also treats conditions affecting the foreskin and scrotum.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Sahdev is actively involved in research and education. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and regularly speaks at regional, national, and international academic meetings. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Section of Andrology, the European Association of Urology (EAU), and the Specialist Interest Group for Male Fertility at the British Fertility Society.

Dr Sahdev is a miracle worker. Surgery went well and Post TURP’s surgery my pee flow is like I was teenager again. Both Dr Sahdev and his excellent pa managed to get me surgery very quickly plus kept me informed at all times. My spire care was also excellent with the nursing staff and catering staff really looking after me . My post appointments have also been super informative. . We had a great experience with Mr Sahdev. I had a Vasectomy 5 years ago and I met my now partner and we decided we wanted a child together so I booked Mr Sahdev for a Vasectomy Reversal. Mr Sahdev and his team were patient, explained the process in such great detail and were very kind throughout the whole process. I felt completely taken care of and the surgery itself went without a hitch. We have actually just found out we are pregnant on our 3rd cycle following the procedure and we couldnt be happier! All thanks to Mr Sahdev and his team, thank you so much! Its been a 1010 experience, minus the slight pain following the surgery of course!
