About Mr Varun Sahdev
Mr. Varun Sahdev is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at University Hospitals Southampton, as well as an Honorary Consultant at University College London Hospital (UCLH). He specialises in all aspects of general urology, with a sub-specialist interest in andrology and male geniourinary reconstruction. Mr. Sahdev provides tertiary-level andrology services for the Wessex region and supports the penile cancer service at UCLH.
After qualifying from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 2009, Mr. Sahdev completed his core surgical training in the Oxford Deanery before undertaking higher urological training in the South-West of England. He further honed his expertise through a prestigious fellowship in andrological surgery at UCLH, one of Europe’s leading centres for this field.
Mr. Sahdev has extensive experience in andrological and reconstructive procedures, including surgeries for urethral strictures, Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, vasectomy reversal, male infertility and penile prostheses. He regularly performs high-volume surgeries, including urethroplasty, Optilume, penile prosthesis implantation, surgical sperm retrieval (including Micro-TESE), penile straightening procedures (Nesbit and Lue techniques), and the insertion of artificial urinary sphincters. He also treats conditions affecting the foreskin and scrotum as well as hypogonadism (low testosterone).
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Sahdev is actively involved in research and education. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and regularly speaks at regional, national, and international academic meetings. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Section of Andrology, the European Association of Urology (EAU), and the Specialist Interest Group for Male Fertility at the British Fertility Society.

Mr Varun Sahdev treated me very well during my visit, offering professional and welcoming hospitality. My condition was a stricture of the urethra which would cause my bladder to not empty fully. This meant that I would get frequent UTIs. Mr Sahdev explained potential operations I could take clearly which allowed me to proceed with confidence. The operation went well and I am pleased with the results. Overall I am highly satisfied with my visit and thankful to Mr Sahdev.
I was treated for a uncomfortable groin and peroneal lump. I felt treated very well by Mr Sahdev and his expert team. I'm now much more comfortable and feel able to get on with my life free of pain and discomfort.

After being diagnosed with stuttering Priapism, and trialing many types of medication which did help for the first year, eventually I had little choice but to receive a prosthetic implant inside the shaft of my penis. Throughout the the whole process Mr Sahdev was excellent, he explained everything in a clear and relaxed manner from each medication, all the way through to each procedure, we talked about my options, the risks, and the possible outcomes. He listened well to my feedback and I felt included in the outcome. After experiencing and watching many other doctors perform aspirations on me I quickly realised Mr Sahdev was the most relaxed, precise, informative, and clinical in his approach, and that gave me the confidence to agree to the recommendation made on my final operation. I'm so pleased with Mr Sahdev and the treatment he gave me.

Mr Sahdev was very helpful and explained everything that I needed to know about having an AUS fitted. The procedure went well and the AUS device was activated and everything works well. I now do not leak at all, which is a great bonus after a year of incontinence since my prostate removal.
