Dr Una O'Colmain

Dr Una O'Colmain is a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist who provides expert care for a wide range of ocular conditions. With a strong clinical focus on adult and paediatric strabismus, cataract management, and eyelid disorders, she delivers comprehensive eye care tailored to the individual needs of every patient. Dr O'Colmain is dedicated to restoring visual clarity and improving quality of life through advanced medical and surgical treatments, always maintaining an objective, professional, and reassuring approach.

In her clinical practice, Dr O'Colmain specialises in evaluating and treating complex vision issues. Her areas of clinical interest include adult and childhood strabismus, including cases involving double vision or previous surgical interventions. She performs delicate surgical procedures, such as adjustable suture squint surgery and cataract extraction, alongside non-surgical therapies including Botulinum toxin administration for squints, facial dystonias, blepharospasm, and apraxia of the eyelids. She also provides full diagnostic evaluations and management plans for dry eye syndrome.

Dr O'Colmain qualified in medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2001. She subsequently completed comprehensive post-graduate specialist training in Ophthalmology across Scotland and London, culminating in an advanced fellowship in strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology at a renowned eye care hospital. Alongside her clinical practice, Dr O'Colmain serves as a Senior Clinical Lecturer, actively involved in medical education and training senior registrars and fellows.
