Dr Thomas Bycroft

Dr Thomas Bycroft is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatric Intensivist and Clinical Director who specialises in paediatric critical care. He is committed to providing exceptional, reassuring care to critically ill children and supporting their families during challenging times. In his clinical practice, Dr Bycroft manages a wide range of life-threatening conditions in children, ensuring they receive the highest standard of medical attention.

His clinical interests lie in paediatric intensive care, acute emergency paediatrics, and the management of paediatric sepsis. Dr Bycroft has extensive expertise in treating severe infections such as pneumonia and meningitis, as well as managing severe trauma, airway difficulties, and complex neurological conditions. He also plays a key role in paediatric transport services, helping to safely transfer critically ill infants and children to specialist centres for urgent, life-saving treatment.

Dr Bycroft qualified in 2008, graduating with an MBBS and BSc from a prestigious London medical school. He subsequently completed his specialist paediatric training in London, which included advanced paediatric intensive care training across several of the capital's leading teaching hospitals. Demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field of paediatric emergency and critical care, he is an active steering committee member of the Research in European Paediatric Emergency Medicine network and serves on the executive committee of the European Society of Emergency Paediatrics.
