Dr Thomas Ankers

Dr Thomas Ankers is a highly dedicated Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, with a particular focus on foot and ankle conditions as well as hip and knee procedures. Reassuring and professional, he is committed to delivering patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals receive tailored treatment plans designed to restore mobility and alleviate pain. His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of reconstructive and trauma surgeries, helping patients recover from complex joint and bone conditions.

Dr Ankers completed his medical education at Newcastle University, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. He subsequently undertook extensive specialist training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. Demonstrating academic and clinical excellence, he was awarded the prestigious Klenerman Gold Medal in 2022, an honour presented to the best-performing trainee in the region upon passing the Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) examination in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Ankers is actively involved in medical research and professional development. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and has contributed to clinical registries and research publications focusing on joint replacement outcomes, pain management following hip fracture surgery, and the treatment of osteochondral defects of the talus.
