Doctors Guide: Elderly Medicine Experts | Tatler
"The go-to for complex or unexplained medical cases, Dr Ganan Sritharan is a consultant in General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics with a reputation for clear thinking and easy rapport with patients. He is often called in to untangle difficult diagnoses and oversee the care of older or medically intricate patients, ensuring treatment plans work seamlessly across specialities. Having pioneered the Surgical Physician model at St Mary’s Hospital, he now serves as Clinical Director of General Medicine at King Edward VII’s Hospital, also consulting at the Lindo Wing. When not with patients, he’s likely perfecting a koi pond or tinkering with vintage watches. "
Dr Sritharan trained at Corpus Christi College, Oxford and University College London and is a General Physician and Geriatrician based at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial. He established an award winning (BMJ Award 2019), nationally recognised, novel Surgical Physician model of care within Vascular Surgery at Imperial that he then expanded to encompass General and Neurosurgery at St Mary’s.
Dr Sritharan was Head of Acute and Specialist Medicine during the pandemic and was subsequently Head of Specialty for the surgical physicians. He was also Domain Lead for Ageing and Development at Imperial College and sat on the National Clinical Quality Committee of the British Geriatric Society for a number of years and has spoken at national conferences in Vascular Surgery, Quality Improvement and Perioperative Care. He was appointed as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Vascular Surgery at Imperial College in 2025.
Dr Sritharan now practices privately at King Edward VII Hospital where he designed and leads the perioperative medicine service and is Clinical Director for General Medicine. He conducts general medicine, complex diagnostic and preventive medicine clinics at the Mayo Clinic, where he was their Lead Physician for Executive Health in London and then lead for General Internal and Preventive Medicine. He has also worked with NHSE as North West London clinical lead for advice and guidance and is passionate about health inequality and supporting improving integration between primary and secondary care for the benefit of patient care and experience.

Dr Ganan Sritharan takes time, while wasting little of it , and pays close attention ; he does not patronise or obfuscate , and he is responsive to tone . Both in person and on a Zoom consultation , he negotiates matters with frankness and intelligence and one never forgets that he also is human and knows the compromises , limitations and fears attendant upon having a body .
Telephone consultation. Dr Garam is always encouraging and kind. Extremely pleasant and easy to talk to.
It was a follow up to get the results from a day of "baseline" tests done a few weeks before.
Care at the hospital was excellent and my mother returned home much improved and happy with how she was treated by doctors and nursing staff
Dr Ganan Sritharan, was exceptional. He is clearly an expert in his field, yet he explained all aspect of my condition, investigations and treatment plan in a way that was easy to understand. He was extremely thorough, warm and considerate throughout the consultation, taking the time to answer all of my questions fully and patiently. Most importantly, he provided a clear forward plan and explained the next steps in detail, which gave me a great deal of reassurance and confidence. I left the appointment feeling informed, supported and much more at ease. I would highly recommend Dr. Garner to anyone seeking expert, compassionate care.
